Frost sets Town a six-point target

Gary Frost is challenging his Boston Town squad to pick up six points from their next two matches - and take a giant step towards securing safety.

The Poachers travel to face 17th-placed Leicester Nirvana on Saturday in the United Counties League Premier Division (KO 3pm).

This will be followed by another away day, this time at basement boys Huntingdon Town a week later.

And Frost believes two maximum points hauls could be key to his side beating the drop.

“I want six points from the next two games,” he said.

“These are games we can win and I want the lads to do that.

“They’re big games but ones we can win, to be honest.”

Town, in 20th spot, sit three places but 13 points behind Nirvana.

But a narrow 2-1 win at Huntingdon is their only victory in the past five games, which have included a 4-1 thumping at Wisbech and a 7-1 thrashing at Eynesbury Rovers, who the Poachers recently took three points from.

Boston are seven points clear of Harrowby United, who occupy the second relegation spot.

But despite Harrowby having two games in hand, Frost believes two more wins should give his side a massive boost.

He added: “We need to put the pressure on Harrowby a bit more.

“They have games left and can catch us, but they’ve got to win those games, and they’ve only won four all season.

“Six points would put us in a good position.

“Staying up is our main aim, but after that we need to look at finishing as high up the table as possible.”

Town didn’t play on Saturday as their scheduled contest at Yaxley was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.

The game has been re-arranged for April 8.
