Boss Mark Shaw said the signings were taking time, but he was remaining patient.

He told the Guardian: “We’ve got quite a few coming in that we aren’t ready to announce yet, but there are three players in more advanced talks.”

“It’s taking time, but these signings are quite important to create a bit of a spine, so I’m not frustrated yet.”

“Players will shop around, but I think Worksop are the best option in and around the local area.”

The manager revealed he has spoken to Kern Miller and Ryan Clarke, but doesn’t appear hopeful of signing either.

“I spoke to Kern and he was disappointed about the pay cuts, which is understandable.”

“Everyone who has come to the club, whether it’s re-signing or coming from Matlock, has taken a pay cut to be here.”

“I let him have time to think about things because he’s a very good, young player.”

“Ryan and I spoke briefly.”

“His travelling companion has left the club, he’d be travelling on his own and I’m a realist – we can’t afford to be anywhere near what we paid him last year so I would rather be respectful and let him see what else there is.”

Two players who will return to the ranks are Ash Jackson and Reece Twell.

Both were stars of the Under 19 team under Kevin Staniland last season, before breaking into the first team.

Shaw’s backroom staff will consist of Pete Shuttleworth(assistant manager), Andy Lake (coach), Steven Shuttleworth (goalkeeping coach), Gabi Tye (head physio), Kelly Griffiths (assistant physio) and Danny Shackleton (chief scout).
