After the previous week’s county cup games, most clubs returned to league action -- and Friendship cashed in by beating BFC Clumber for their fourth victory from as many matches.

Against a Clumber side whose early-season promise seems to be fading away, the tabletoppers dominated the contest and already sit five points in front of their closest rivals with a goal-difference of plus-22.

Second spot is shared by Rose And Crown, who were without a fixture, and Smiffys United, who were held to a thrilling 3-3 draw by local-derby rivals, Elm Cottage. Both teams battled hard but could not be separated and a draw was viewed as a fair result.

The other top-flight match to take place resulted in Owston Ferry Sports Club completing an early-season double over bottom-of-the-table Misterton United, who have now lost five out of five. Both sides created chances, but Owston’s superior finishing proved decisive in a 3-1 win.

At the top of Division Two, Tuxford WMC, who were without a game, had their lead cut to one point by MUSC. The Harworth-based outfit returned to winning ways with a 2-1 victory at home to bottom team Leverton United, who were plucky in defeat and will surely be earning their first points of the new season soon.

Just two points behind MUSC are Crooked Billet after a 4-1 win away to struggling local rivals Morton, and three points behind are Black Horse, who had to be content with a 1-1 scoreline at home to Albertos, who have now drawn all three of their opening fixtures.

The rermaining match in the division was arguably the best as AFC Ordsall and Walkeringham shared seven goals, with the latter emerging victorious.

The Third Division featured a remarkable scoreline as the early runaway leaders Bridon AFC routed Ropery Rangers 21-1 to shoot six points clear. Ropery Inn beat Ship Inn Morton 5-3, while Westwoodside crushed Crown Inn 6-1.
