Gainsborough Trinity boss Steve Housham vows side will battle to get as many points as possible

Trinity sit on the magic 40 point, with the bottom three sitting 11 points adrift and the play off places another 14 away.

“The teams at the bottom have only picked up the odd point so we are still 11 points clear. We want to go out there and win games of football which we deserved to do today.”

“We need to keep drilling it into the lads that we still have games to go and we will go down fighting in every game.”

“Fans come and pay their money to come and watch Gainsborough and I’ll make sure they get their money’s worth.”

Trinity were unlucky losers on Saturday, losing to Stockport when they had plenty of chances to claim at least a point. Housham believes his side gave him the reaction he wanted after the heavy defeat to Solihull.

He said: “Barring the first 10 minutes I thought we near enough controlled the game. We had a lot of good, good chances but hats off to their keeper, we’ve done everything but score a goal today. We got the reaction from last week and didn’t get the three points or at least the point that we deserved today.”

Attention quickly turned to the change in goal for the Blues for the game, with Jonathan Hedge getting his first league start for the club.

“Jan’s obviously disappointed but I’ve got to make decisions. I’ll wait and see how they train again this week and make more of it. I though his kicking was good, his decision making but he may get singled out for the second goal, which might boil down to not having a lot to do in the second half.”
