The Holy Blues boss – who suggests ‘four or five’ new signings could be announced soon – has been speaking to the Blades, his former club, plus a number of Football League teams, about bolstering their squad with young loanees.

"I'm in dialogue with Sheffield United about a couple of players from there that they're looking to loan out," he said.

"They're keen to send them to us because of the reputation we've got and how we look after them.

"Building those relationships are good and I think a loan move for professional players at Premier League clubs are beneficial for them and also for us."

United - pushing for a Champions League spot in the Premier League - aren't the only club Woodhouse has been speaking to.

As he looks to cast his net wide to bring in the right talent to the Northern Premier League, the Trinity boss is also holding conversations with Lincolnshire's Football League outfits.

"We've got plenty of irons in the fire and I've got lots of contacts," he added.

"I've been speaking closely to Scunthorpe United, to Grimsby Town, to Lincoln City as well, who helped us with Jordan Adebayo-Smith, who came last season and did brilliant.

"I'm looking to put together a real young, vibrant team. It's exciting times."

Woodhouse has no fears about bringing in youngsters from full-time clubs, arguing the moves can be mutually beneficial

"That's why a lot of academy managers are keen to send us players, they get to find out a little bit about their players; what their mentality is like," he continued

"Are they going to come to Gainsborough and turn their nose up or come and think it's a great opportunity to play first team football?

"The lads we brought in last year on loan, I was really impressed with.

"Billy Chadwick from Hull City did brilliant. Ahmed Salam, again from Hull, he played five games and was brilliant."

Woodhouse added that the club’s return to training was ‘imminent’, admitting he was keen to integrate his summer signings and squad players together as soon as possible in a bid to begin work on next season's push for glory.
