Manager Curtis Woodhouse confirmed there were two positive cases at the club this week.

"We're ok. It's been a real difficult seven days. We had a couple of lads test positive and then on the back of that we had five go down ill," said Woodhouse, whose test came back negative.

"There was a real panic and we had to wait to get the test results back.

"Fortunately, them guys have come back negative and we're still waiting on two or three more.

"It's been a little bit of a scary time but we're back in training tonight.

"I'm not 100 per cent sure of the numbers we've got but we're preparing for Saturday's game (against Witton Albion) the best we can."

The Holy Blues' Northern Premier League fixture against Nantwich last Wednesday was postponed following a positive test amongst the Dabbers' squad before Saturday's contest against Lancaster City was also put on hold due to illness in the Trinity camp.

"Everyone's health is paramount," Woodhouse added.

"We all love football, we've all missed it massively but in the grand scheme of things it's nowhere near the most important thing in anybody's life.

"The main this is making sure everybody's healthy."

Woodhouse also praised the club's staff for their actions in ensuring the squad were looked after to the best of their ability.

"The club are doing everything. The procedures Gainsborough Trinity have in place are second to none," he continued.

"We're doing all we can, we've just got to try to prepare best we can really.

"When it comes to things like this, I haven't got a clue what to do if I'm honest. I'm just a football manager.

"That's all I do so you rely on the experts to guide you. This one's definitely out my pay bracket."

Boston United, who currently groundshare with the Holy Blues, have told their squad to self isolate for two weeks following a positive case.

However, the Pilgrims have not played at the Northolme since their FA Cup victory over AFC Mansfield on October 3.
