The Notts County midfielder recently extended his loan period at the Jakemans Stadium, expecting to be part of the Pilgrims squad for the remainder of the season.

But on Thursday evening Greene learned that the Magpies were recalling the youngster (pictured) and sending him out on loan to League of Ireland side Sligo Rovers instead.

The United boss was left especially frustrated by Richards’ removal as he was not representing his new club this weekend.

With Zak Mills and Dylan McEvoy not fit enough for action and Ryan Robbins loaned out to Corby Town, the Pilgrims were left with four youth team players on the bench.

“We get told on the Thursday and he’s not even playing on the Saturday,” Greene said.

“At worst, after all we’ve done for Jordan’s career and the way he’s developed, at least let him play Saturday and fly out on the Sunday.

“He’s played 21 games for us and not got injured.

“It was just really bad the way they’ve dumped it on us like that, and they’ve got no respect for what we’re trying to achieve.”

Meanwhile, goalkeeper Jason Alexander has left the club by mutual consent and defender Conor Green has signed dual registration forms with Stamford.

With Mills ruled out for between two and five weeks with an Achilles injury, Greene added that he is now looking to bolster his squad.

“We’ll be trying to bring in a defender and central midfield player for sure,” he said.

“I’ve made loads on enquiries. We’ll try and make one or two things happen.”
