Greene hopes three is Boston United's magic number

The Pilgrims have their destiny in their own hands as they currently occupy fifth place in the National League North with four games to go.

United host struggling Bradford Park Avenue on Saturday (KO 3pm) before two tough fixtures against fellow promotion chasers - away at Harrogate Town and at home to Nuneaton Town.

They will conclude their campaign away at Stalybridge Celtic.

But Greene believes that nine points from the club’s next three matches could well be enough for his side to to travel to Bower Fold with a play-off place already secured.

“If we take our chances we can be looking at five (wins) on the trot,” said Greene after his team scooped back-to-back 2-1 victories at Tamworth and FC United.

“It’s a case of taking your chances - that makes all the difference.

“We’ve got four games to go now. I’m sure it’s going to go to the last day of the season, unless we win our next three games.

“It is definitely in our own hands.”

Boston have picked up just one point in their past four home matches, their last victory at the Jakemans Stadium being the 3-1 success against Hednesford Town on January 23.

But with momentum behind them, they hope to get back to winning ways this weekend.

“I’m sure we’ll bounce back to some good form at home,” the manager continued.

“Are we peaking at the right time?

“If we win our next four then we’d be the form team going into the play-offs.

“We’ve won two games to keep our season alive and we’ll look forward to Saturday.

“We tend to, on the whole, rise to the big occasion.”

Park Avenue are currently struggling on the road, having picked up just four points from their past seven away days.

They have lost three and drawn one of their previous four matches away from Cemetery Road.

However, their last win away came in Lincolnshire, a 1-0 victory at Gainsborough on January 30.
