Craig Elliott marked his 100th game in charge of Boston United by picking up three vital points at Kidderminster Harriers.

With Dayle Southwell named on the bench following his return to the club, strikers Jordan Thewlis and Dominic Knowles made it clear they weren't giving up their places without a fight, the strike duo both on target.

Super sub Jonathan Wafula made the game safe with his first touch in the final minute of normal time.

There was also a late debut for Aaron Rowe, who joined the club on loan from Huddersfield Town in midweek.

The result sees United remain seventh in the National League North, with games in hand on some higher-placed rivals.

While Elliott reached double figures and his 47th win as Boston boss, it was a losing start for new Kidderminster manager Jimmy Shan.

Thewlis gave the Pilgrims the perfect start on nine minutes, his penalty carrying enough force to take the ball beyond Will Mannion, who got his hands to the strike.

Referee Richard Holmes had pointed to the spot following Cliff Moyo's foul on Jake Wright.

Moyo made amends in the 20th minute, however, levelling as he stabbed home a corner from former Pilgrim Ashley Hemmings.

In a half of few opportunities, Peter Crook had to be alert into time added on as he kept out Sam Austin's cross-shot at his near post.

The second half began with Harriers applying more pressure, Crook diverting Ashley Chambers' effort before Austin's strike took a deflection off Pierce Bird, striking the United bar on the way over.

Alex Penny was then called upon to make a goalline clearance before Boston regained the lead.

Knowles met Penny's cross at the back post, the referee's assistant confirming the header had crossed the line.

The away side were now on the front foot, Jay Rollins and Thewlis denied by Mannion and Tom Platt heading wide.

In the final throes, Austin curled an effort over the Boston bar while Southwell and Alex Whittle saw strikes repelled by Mannion.

But there was still time for Wafula to head home Abbott's delivery tosecure the points, even if Harriers' Brandon Diau saw an effort clip the post in time added on.
