Hillary side gain revenge

Sir Edmund Hillary, knocked out of the Parry Cup by Ryton Park, got revenge as they bounced back to beat the same opponents in the Bassetlaw Area Final of the English Schools FA Seven-a-side.

They now qualify for the County Final in Sutton-in-Ashfield at the end of the month.

Unlike the cup match, and with goalkeeper Thomas Bradley in good form, Hillary defended well and restricted Ryton Park to long shots and reached the interval level.

Daniel Scott opened the scoring for Hillary early in the second half and Charlie Smith added a second with only minutes remaining to put an end to Ryton Park’s perfect record.

Blyth kept up their pursuit of East Markham in Division Five when Elliott Everett and Matthew Parry gave them a 2-1 win over Ranskill, while Gamston opened their account for the season earning a draw against Haggonfields whose goal came from Alfie Heslop.

Leverton travelled to Nottingham for a County Small Schools Cup quarter-final, where they beat an experienced Burford School 10-0.

At Harworth they had another big win when Billy Simpkins and Caden Burton were on target along with Callum Flaherty, Adam Capsticks, Rudy Campbell and Thomas Jee were all on target.
