Horncastle boss wants to hit the ground running in 2026
John Rawdon says he wants Horncastle Town to hit the ground running in 2026 when they finally return to league action.
The Wongers haven’t played a competitive match since December 6 when they were beaten narrowly by Lincoln United Development, and still have over a week to go until their next league game when Louth Town Reserves are the visitors, that being followed a week later by another home game against Barton Town Reserves.

And having had such a long enforced break, Rawdon hopes batteries will have been recharged sufficiently for his team to gain much-needed points.
He said: “We have to target six points, for no other reason than we need points on the board but ultimately if we can get back-to-back wins, the belief and confidence in the group will go through the roof.
"Six points would make a big difference to how the league table looks and get us back in contention for looking towards mid-table, and I wholeheartedly believe we are capable of doing it.
"That’s as long as we’ve prepared ourselves right over the Christmas period and then apply ourselves during the games.
"That will then lead us on to still being in two cups. We have the County Cup and a tie against Whaplode Drove from the Peterborough League, and then a tough home draw in the League Cup against Wyberton.
"So while we’re in those cups we’ll always try to win them, so we’ll go as far as we can in each competition, therefore a big January is going to be imperative in terms of how the season is going to pan out.
"A couple of good results in the league and a couple of good results in the cup and all of a sudden it’s a different world we’re living in.
"But having been working and training through this break we are now very much looking forward to that first game back on January 10.”
