Horncastle Town appoint new management team until the end of the season

Horncastle Town have confirmed an interim management team for the rest of the season after previous boss John Rawdon left the club last week.

Rawdon announced his departure after 18 months at the helm, much of that alongside his brother, Will, as joint-manager.

And the club have now opted to allow three of the club’s senior players to take the team for the rest of the campaign, aided by coaches Adam Ward and Freddie Brooks.

On leaving the club, Rawdon said: “It’s with a heavy heart that I’ve decided to step down as manager. It has been a real privilege and honour to manage my hometown club. I’d like to thank everyone who gave me the opportunity, as well as the unbelievable fans who get behind the team week in, week out.

“Alongside Adam Ward and Will, I feel we’ve stabilised the first team, made us more competitive, and put us back in a position where we’re truly competing again at this level. The culture around the team has improved massively over the past 18 months, with the players fully buying into what we’re trying to achieve.

“The lads have been fantastic, and I’m confident they’ll kick on again under a new management team.”

A club spokesman said: “The club would like to thank John for the commitment, dedication and professionalism he has brought to the role during his 18-month tenure alongside his younger brother Will and Adam Ward.

“Town’s current league position belies the level of performances across the season, and John deserves credit for assembling a talented and competitive group of players who will hopefully continue to improve and justify the faith John has shown in them.

“However, John’s long-standing association with HTFC has not come to an end as he also manages Town’s U9 team alongside first team stalwart Alec Enderby.”

To replace Rawdon, senior players Lewis Burchnall, Alec Enderby and Scott Lowman will take charge alongside Ward and Brooks until the end of the season, with a new permanent managerial team expected to be appointed by the club in the summer.
