"I love the club!" Jake Wright ready to repay Boston United... if his future lies at York Street

Jake Wright would love to repay the faith show in him by Boston United... if his future lies at York Street.

The striker's loan spell will come to an end following Saturday's National League North contest at Bradford Park Avenue.

And although Pilgrims manager Craig Elliott would love to keep hold of the striker, who scored eight times in two loan spells in 2019, no deal has yet been struck with parent club York City.

"We've discussed it with the gaffer. I'm not sure what's going on and I've not signed anything, but we're looking to get something sorted," Wright told The Standard.

"I haven't personally spoke to York about it (extending the loan). A few months ago, when Boston played York at York's ground it got mentioned, but that's that."

Wright, who has found himself surplus to requirement with the title-chasing Minstermen, scored twice in a four-game loan spell last season before rejoining in August.

Despite his return being hampered by injury, Wright has netted six times in 14 appearances and would be delighted to remain with Boston.

"The gaffer's spoke to me at training and I'm happy here and I've enjoyed it," he added.

"I've not played for four months so it's time to repay the gaffer, chairman and fans.

"Hopefully, I've been getting back to full fitness in a difficult period. I'm getting fitter and fitter.

"I love the club, the gaffer, chairman and everything. I've really enjoyed my time and I'm happy to carry on if that's what happens."
