"Incredible! Absolutely brilliant!" Emotional David Newton overcome by Boston United FA Cup heroics at Rochdale

The Pilgrims chairman was visibly overcome as the non-league side, the lowest ranked in the competition, held their League One opponents to a goalless draw at Spotland on Sunday.

"I thought we were outstanding from start to finish," said Newton, who had his name sung by the near-1,000 travelling support before, during and after the match.

"You could see their quality, they played just the way we thought they would and our game plan worked really well.

"I just thought the lads were immense, every one of them."

While praising his team, Newton also gave a thumbs up to the supporters.

"Listen now, incredible," he said as the away section remained in full voice long after the final whistle.

"Absolutely. Brilliant. Unbelievable. I can't believe it."
