Injury blow for Skegness Town's Ben Davison

Skipper to be sidelines...

Skegness Town will be without their skipper and talisman Ben Davison for the foreseeable future after a scan revealed that he suffered a serious injury during the last home game.

Davison played a significant role in the Lilywhites’ narrow victory over Dronfield Town on January 11, but checks carried out after he complained of feeling unwell last week showed that he has suffered a fractured skull.

It is not clear when the injury was sustained, but it would be fair to say that Davison’s (pictured) battle leading the front line for the seasiders against Dronfield had been a tough one.

All at the club wish him a speedy recovery.

The bad news comes at a time when title rivals Winterton Rangers grabbed top spot from the seasiders, something they were powerless to prevent after Hallam FC called last Saturday’s game off due to a waterlogged pitch.

Ironically it coincides with the latest transfer of talent from Winterton to the Vertigo Stadium.

Oliver Hamilton has signed for the Lilywhites and he will go straight into the squad for Saturday’s visit to the Vertigo of Parkgate (KO 3pm).

Rotherham-based Parkgate have already been beaten twice by Nathan Collins men this season.

In the first round of the League Cup in September the Lilywhites came back from behind to win the tie by the odd goal in five thanks to a late penalty from striker Gary King.

Earlier that month the seasiders beat them 2-0 in the league.

Parkgate, who were relegated from the Premier Division in 2018, finished in eighth in Division One last season.

They haven’t won since October 19 and come to the Vertigo on the back of a 3-1 home defeat to Retford FC.

Apart from Davison, Collins should have a full squad to choose from and word on the street is that striker Leigh Hutchinson is back in training after being sidelined for months with a knee injury.

Meanwhile Skegness Town Reserves, who lost out to local rivals Spilsby Town by the odd goal in three last weekend, host fifth placed Benington in the Boston League’s Workforce Unlimited Premier Division on the second pitch at the Vertigo (KO 2pm).

Skegness Town A, who beat Kirton Town Reserves 5-3 in Division Two of the Boston League last weekend, have no game.
