Boston United boss Craig Elliott hopes Jay Rollins will be fit to face Alfreton Town on Boxing Day - but question marks remain over Andi Thanoj's fitness.

The club captain missed the weekend's FA Trophy penalty shootout win against AFC Fylde due to a foot injury.

Rollins had already sat out the first six matches of the campaign due to breaking his toe during pre-season training. However, it is hoped his latest injury is only a minor setback.

Former Alfreton midfielder Thanoj, who has been omitted from the past two games after picking up a thigh injury in the goalless draw with Chester, will be assessed at training on Thursday.

"I think that Jay Rollins will be ok and, with Andi, we'll have to assess that one," Elliott said.

"It's a muscle injury so we'll see how he comes on."

With the duo both missing the weekend's game and Mitch Rose and Jordan Thewlis suspended, the Pilgrims could only name four substitutes to face Fylde.

However, that did offer Tyrell Warren the chance to make an appearance off the bench, following on from his start in the previous Trophy round at Southern League South Evesham.

Elliott was happy to see the former Manchester United and Salford City defender get some vital game time after slipping behind Matt Tootle in the pecking order.

"It's nice that Ty's got on and got a chance," Elliott added.

"These players are doing a lot of good work behind the scenes."

Thewlis and Rose will remain suspended for Boxing Day's clash at the Jakemans Community Stadium (KO 3pm).
