Interim bosses hope for progress at Horncastle
New Horncastle Town joint-interim boss Lewis Burchnall says the team is determined to climb the table as they aim to build on a positive start under new management.
Burchnall is one of a trio of senior players who have taken on the running of the team following the departure of John Rawdon earlier this month, and alongside Scott Lowman and Alec Enderby oversaw a 3-1 win at Cleethorpes Town Reserves in their first game in charge on February 14.

Last weekend saw the Wongers have a blank schedule, with them due to get back in action at home to Louth Town Reserves on Wednesday night (25th), after this week’s Horncastle News went to press.
But assessing their time at the helm so far, Burchnall – who is also the club’s first team goalkeeper – was pleased with the progress being made.
He said: “We couldn’t have asked for a better start than the win away at Cleethorpes Town Reserves.
"We were confident going into the match as we’d played so well in the previous three games, and after an even first half we dominated the second half and made the most of the extra man following their red card.
“We’ve got a packed fixture schedule ahead, starting with Louth Town Reserves on Wednesday and Grimsby Borough Reserves on Saturday.
"The lads are raring to go after a disjointed first few weeks of the year and hopefully we can get some momentum together now to climb the league.”
Horncastle are second from bottom in the Lincolnshire Premier League, but have several games in hand, a mid-table/top half finish in the 14-team division remains possible with a strong end to the campaign.
Following the two home games this week, Horncastle will then be on the road for the next three matches at Barton Town Reserves, Wyberton and Skegness Town Reserves.
