"I loved every minute, it was a proper Conference North battle," he said.

"They're bottom of the league but you don't get given points.

"We've come here and we've had to dig real deep, the last five minutes was heart attack stuff, defending last ditch.

"But that's what you live for really and I've enjoyed every minute of that."

Dominic Knowles put the Pilgrims 1-0 up after 45 seconds.

Simon Ainge doubled the advantage, only for Nicky Clee to pull one back.

"I hadn't touched the ball when we scored and I thought 'this is going to be easy'," Garner added.

"When we went 2-0 up I thought we'd score at will, but they'd scored seconds after the re-start. I was devastated with that.

"We did what we needed to do, three points was the main thing.

"It's been a long few days waiting for my debut, but I'm glad it's here and the win's in the bank."
