Craig Elliott has confirmed that Andi Thanoj will be sidelined for Boston United’s FA Cup replay.

The midfielder, one of the star performers in the goalless draw at League One Rochdale, will face around a month on the treatment table.

Thanoj - who has scored twice in United’s five-game cup run - limped out of the clash at Spotland with a groin injury.

“He’s struggling,I’m not going to lie. There’s no point playing around it,” Elliott said at this afternoon’s press conference.

“He’s going to be struggling for a good three or four weeks so we’re going to miss him.

“But it’s football. As much as you can dwell on things, nobody cares in football.

“You’ve got to move on quickly, somebody else’s chance.”

With Brad Abbott suspended, Tom Platt will be the only member of that midfield three who dealt so well with Rochdale last time around available for selection.

Jonathan Wafula and Martyn Woolford may be the obvious choices to replace them.

“The dynamics might change a little bit,” Elliott added.

“But we’ve still got good players to come in and play their part.”

United have currently sold more than 3,000 tickets for Monday’s replay (KO 7.30pm), and with the winner hosting Newcastle United in round three, Elliott admits it’s now ‘winner takes all’.

“A lot of people have talked about us playing Newcastle but it’s massive incentive for Rochdale as well,” he added.

“It is winner takes all.

“It’s made the game bigger than it could have been, that’s reflected in the ticket sales.

“People are coming to not only see the game, but also trying to be part of the process in playing Newcastle United.

“The draw is perfect for both teams but you can’t look no further than Monday night.”
