Boston United are expecting a 'big year' from club captain Jay Rollins, after he became the latest player to sign a new deal.

Rollins joined the Pilgrims in 2015, and the 26-year-old has gone on to make 183 appearances, scoring 36 times, also being named the 2016-17 Player of the Year.

After an injury-hit campaign last season, manager Craig Elliott wants the winger to hit the ground running this August.

"I think it's a big year for Jay," Elliott said.

"He started pre-season unbelievable, he was fit and sharp. Then he had a couple of injuries that stopped him carrying on that form.

"He knows I want more goals from him and he knows he needs to hit the ground running next season - but I'm sure he will.

"Again, he's somebody that's a good lad to work with and a positive person."

Rollins' non-league experience and love for the club made attempting to re-sign him an easy decision for Elliott.

He continued: "We're trying to sign players who know this league and he knows that. He's an experienced player now, so he's got to keep improving.

"That's why I said this year I'm expecting more from him. I want more assists and more goals."
