Kiveton beat nine man Glapwell in hard fought match

DESPITE arriving at Hard Lane in good form and third in the league, Glapwell left with no points and two red cards.

The away side took charge early on going close on several occasions and giving keeper Jonny Parker plenty to do.

The deserved break through came on the half hour mark, a neat through ball setting the Glapwell left winger on a long run to the byline before he hit a superb cross to the far post which was headed home.

Towards the end of the first half Park had started to get a grip of the game and continued to do so at the start of the second.

All Park’s forwards, McDonnell, Gorman and Longmore went close but couldn’t find the net.

But when Green was upended 20 yards from goal, Steve McDonnell shot home from the free-kick, low and hard to the keeper’s left.

Kiveton were now in total control in an increasingly fiesty game with yellow cards being brandished frequently.

The hosts scored a winner with 18 minutes to go.

Glapwell failed to clear their own area from a corner, the ball landed at Rob Gorman’s feet and from six yards he calmly beat one man before smashing the ball home.

Before the game was over the referee sent two Glapwell players off, one for a rash tackle and one for two yellows.
