Kyle Watkins returns to Boston Town

Kyle Watkins has returned to Boston Town.

Last season’s skipper left the DWB Stadium in the summer after being offered the chance to play higher up the footballing ladder with Northern Premier League Lincoln United.

However, the 20-year-old has returned to the Poachers on loan.

Manager Gary Edgley said he was ‘delighted’ former Lincoln City youth team captain Watkins was given the green light to return and offered his gratitude to the Whites.

Meanwhile, defender Nick Jackson has left the club.

The former Boston United player has returned to United Counties League Premier Division rivals Holbeach United after leaving the Tigers for the Pilgrims in the summer.

The Poachers will return to action on Monday when they host Sleaford Town in Premier League action.

The festive contest looked set to be on hold this year after both the Poachers and Greens opted not to play their fixtures until the new year.

However, the contest will now take place at the DWB Stadium on the Bank Holiday Monday (December 28, KO 7.45pm), after being pushed back from the initial date of Boxing Day.

Edgley and Sleaford manager Jamie Shaw had both previously questioned whether the contest should go ahead due to high Covid levels in the county.

But Edgley believes that with the FA keen to restructure the non-league pyramid next season, there is a desire to get clubs playing once again.

“The thing that the league are trying to get done this year is to get the league’s finished so they can be separated next season,” he said.

“They want a winner and they want somebody to relegate. I think they’ll aim to get as much of the season completed as they can so they can look at average points.

“That’s my opinion. But there’ll definitely be a lot of games to fit in when we get going again, twice a week.

“If it’s safe to do so then we’ll go ahead and get it done.”
