Brigg Reserves 1

Skegness Town boss Nick Chapman reflected on three points dropped at Brigg Town Reserves, but maintained the fate of the league title was still in the Lilywhites’ hands.

“Yes, it was disappointing, but we have to dust ourselves down and move on,” said Chapman.

“It’s about how we respond to the disappointment that’s important.”

It was a bad day at the office for the Lilywhites, who were without Courtney Warren, Josh Bartlett Ben Drysdale and skipper Ben Davison.

They had their chances to build a healthy lead before the break, but failed to take any of them.

Most notably the first half opportunity presented to Will Britton by the quick feet of Luke Rayner-Mistry was gilt-edged, but the Zebras survived.

The seasiders continued to pepper the home goal, but Brigg defended resolutely and Matt Veall’s header came back from a post on the stroke of half-time.

After the break it was a different story.

“We just didn’t turn up and they scored a scrappy goal, which meant we had to chase the game,” said Chapman.

The seasiders did continue to create enough chances to win the match, but Liam Parker and Jordan Smith both missed the target when well-placed.

“I can’t fault the players for their work rate and desire, but we just lacked something today,” said Chapman.

“It’s in our hands, but none of our remaining fixtures will be easy.”
