The former Boston United and Wisbech Town striker settled swiftly into his new surroundings as the Clarets’ youngsters won 5-0 at Derby County on Friday.

“I was delighted to get the goals, but a bit relieved as well,” said the 17-year-old, who has penned an 18-month deal.

“The move happened so fast. I had a couple of days to think about it, but when a Premier League side wants you then you don’t really have to think a lot about it.”

After trials at Swansea City and Peterborough United, Limb was invited to show Burnley what he had to offer by their head of recruitment Nicky Law, who is friends with Fenmen boss Dick Creasey.

“It would be great if Burnley can stay in the Premier League and one day I can make my debut for them,” he added.

“They’re a Premier League club, but they don’t have a massive amount of players like some other teams, so I won’t get lost in the academy.

“That’s one of the things that made me want to sign.”

Limb will complete his A Levels at Boston Grammar School, linking up with his new teammates when possible before moving to the north west to concentrate on full-time football next season.

But in the meantime he says his friends and family are keeping him grounded.

“At school it’s just the same, I’ve got good mates who treat me normally,” Limb added.

“Some of my teachers are now just as interested about my life outside of school as they are in it, but the headteacher and everyone have been really supportive.”
