Loan keeper is brought in to solidify defence

Ravas, who joined Derby County from Boston United, helped struggling Trinity to stem the flow of goals conceded in National League North.

But a 1-0 defeat at Stockport County on Saturday, their third successive loss, left Trinity with just one win from their opening six matches and second bottom of National League North.

Ravas made several outsanding saves as Trinity, who had conceded nine goals in their previous two matches, looked far more solid defensively.

But they posed little threat going forward.

Frecklington, who made three changes, said: “We were outstanding defensively. We were putting bodies on the line.

“Stockport are a very good side, and will be in the top five and challenging for the title.

“So to come here and frustrate them in the first half and then only lose to one lapse in concentration in not getting tight to a winger was good.”

Talking about his new keeper’s performance, the manager said: “He did what was asked of him today and was a big presence.

“He made good decisions and a couple of good saves, down to his left and right, which you expect goalkeepers to do.

“Goalkeepers have got to catch it, distribute it and organise and he did all three of those very well.”

County took the lead when Ben McKenna’s 55th-minute cross was touched in by Jason Oswell, via the post.

Substitute Tom Walker hit the post and Chris Smalley headed against the woodwork as the home side threatened a second goal.
