Having shipped five goals at home to Grimsby Borough the previous Saturday, the hosts found themselves 4-0 down at the break.

They also had Nick Manders sent off with a straight red card as both teams ended the game with 10 men.

Michael Sullivan scored a hat-trick for the visitors, while Josh Raby’s double and James Slater’s strike compounded Louth’s miserable afternoon in a 6-0 defeat.

Louth remain ninth despite their fourth straight defeat, but lost further ground on the top six, while Hykeham closed to within two points of leaders Skegness Town, but having played three games more.

The fixtures don’t get any easier for the White Wolves as they welcome another team with title aspirations on Saturday when fourth-placed Lincoln Moorlands visit Saltfleetby (kick-off 2pm).

Moorlands are the league’s form horses, having won their last 12 games including a 3-0 victory in the reverse fixture, in Lincoln, last month. They sit five points off the top.
