Scott Lowman grabbed a last-gasp winner to hand Horncastle Town their first win of the Balcan Lighting Supplies Lincolnshire League season.

The Wongers left Gainsborough Trinity Reserves with all three points on Friday evening via a 3-2 scoreline.

Manager Mickey Stones named the same starting line-up which drew 1-1 with Brigg CIC the previous week.

After a tight opening 25 minutes, Town took the lead.

Jac Wright beat the offside trap to finish neatly into the bottom corner.

Ten minutes before the break Trinity levelled things up after some poor marking from a free kick allowed the hosts to tap in.

Five minutes into the second half Town took the lead again.

A free kick was won 30 yards out and captain Chris Johnson’s strike was too powerful for the home keeper to keep out of the top corner.

As time ticked on Town looked as if they would see the game out but Trinity found an equaliser five minutes from the end.

A fine curling effort from the defender gave keeper Lewis Burchnall no chance.

It looked as if that was going to be enough to earn Trinity a share of the spoils.

But Town had other ideas and, when Lowman got sent forward, he found himself through on goal and his left foot strike crept over the keeper and rolled into the empty net.

There was still time for Trinity to carve out two great chances.

The Blues captain burst through a packed Town defence and, but for a great last-ditch tackle from Johnson, he would of surely levelled the score.

The other chance, from nearly the last kick of the game, was brilliantly tipped away by Burchnall, which secured all three points for Town.

On Saturday Town welcome Lincoln United Development to The Wong (KO 3pm).
