Keeper Crook diverted the ball into his on net and Rollins conceded a late penalty as the Pilgrims were beaten 2-1 by Rochdale last night.

But skipper Shiels has thrown hi support behind the pair.

“They’ve been immense all season for us, it’s just one of those things,” he said.

“We’ve got to get behind them. They’re big enough characters to bounce back from that.

“It’s disappointing, how we lost the game, the two goals we conceded.

“I don’t know what Crooky was doing with the first one, whether he heard a shout or nerves? I’m not too sure, but he’s better than that and has been immense for us all season.

“The second one Jay’s tried to get back, it’s late in the game, he’s tired and stuck a leg out.”

Despite the narrow defeat Shiels has taken plenty of positives from Monday’s replay, plus the goalless draw at Spotland.

“If you were a neutral and came to both matches I don’t think you could tell who was League One and who was National League North. The lads deserve all the credit they get,” he added.

“If anything we can take out of this, hopefully we’ve encouraged more people to come through the gate.

“We can play good football, entertaining football. Come down again, it’s like having a 12th man.”
