The 21-year-old midfielder made his Boston United debut on Saturday, and even the 3-2 defeat to Brackley Town couldn’t dampen his spirits following an injury lay off.

Miles joined United on a month-long loan from Lincoln City in a bid to gain some much-needed match fitness after his Red Imps debut on the opening day of the season ended in heartbreak.

“I came on in the 85th minute and five minutes later I was back on the bench with a broken ankle,” he said.

“It’s great to be back playing football again, there’s no better feeling.

“I was injured for 77 days, not that I was counting. I just want to do the thing I love.”

The highly-rated former West Ham United trainee followed Lincoln boss Danny Cowley from Braintree Town in the summer.

He has been given permission to feature in the FA Trophy for United during his stint at the Jakemans Stadium, and he’s looking forward to getting some more minutes under his belt after discussions with City stopper Paul Farman, who also had a loan spell with Boston.

“I spoke to a couple of players round the club and they speak highly of Boston and I couldn’t wait to get started,” Miles added.

“I want to do a job for this club and hopefully score a few goals.

“If I’m honest, I don’t know a lot about Boston, but teammates speak highly and have enjoyed their time here.

“Paul Farman said they’ll look after me and that it’s a nice place to be.”

United will travel to face Evo-Stik Division One Witton Albion in the third qualifying round of the FA Trophy on November 26 (KO 3pm).

United striker Lamin Colley has joined Scarborough Athletic on a month’s loan.
