NCEL round-up: Retford held, Main and Dinnington lose

RETFORD United were denied top spot in the NCEL Premier by a late goal today.

Badgers were leading title rivals Scarborough 1-0 thanks to Carl Haslam’s 48th minute goal.

But the men from the seaside grabbed an equaliser in stoppage time as Joe Naylor ensured Retford stayed second in the table, but level on points with first-placed Bridlington.

Bottom side Maltby Main were defeated 3-2 at home to Barton Town Old Boys.

The visitors took a 3-0 lead but two goals in two minutes brought Main back into it.

Scott Whittington and Lee Clay’s strikes weren’t enough for Steve Adams’ men however.

In Division One, struggling Dinnington Town were thumped 4-0 at Askern Villa.
