That’s the view of manager Dave Frecklington, who is still looking for his first win in charge after Saturday’s unlucky 2-1 home defeat to runaway leaders AFC Fylde sent Trinity sliding into the bottom three.

Trinity’s man-of-the-match was former Lincoln City midfielder Greg Tempest, signed a few hours earlier on loan from Nuneateon.

Cecil Nyoni and Callum Chippendale, who also joined in midweek, made their debuts as well.

Frecklington said: “The newboys only signed on Friday, so we did not have the chance to do much work with them.

“But Tempest was man-of-the-match and Chippendale was still taking the game to Fylde in the 75th minute. His energy levels were fantastic.

“We can only do what we can do. We have shifted four or five players out and it has not been easy.

“The new signings that came in have proved they were the right ones.”

Trinity were beaten by goals in either half from Fylde’s goalscoring machine Danny Rowe, who took his tally for the season to 40 with a first-half breakthrough.

Jordan Thewliss levelled from the penalty spot, but Ioan Evans deflected in a 74th minute Rowe shot to hand the leaders the points.

However, Frecklington was full of optimism, despite the loss.

“The pleasing thing for me was our attention to detail of the game plan,” he said.

“It worked to perfection, not in terms of the result but in terms of progress that we have seen in training.”

Matt Wilson was made captain and Frecklington described him as “ a man mountain at the back.”
