Norbridge in Parry Cup quarter-finals

A YOUNG but talented Norbridge team eased into the quarter-finals of the Parry Cup with a convincing defeat of Retford’s St Joseph’s.

Joseph’s fought back gallantly with goals from Isaac Hepworth and William Lyons but finally finished 6-2 down with goals from R. Wilkinson (3), B. Marshall, K.Morris and L. Davies.

Prospect Hill claimed another three points in their second league outing with a 2-1 defeat of St John’s.

Leading in one minute through Mason Rubie and looking comfortable after Jacob Reynolds made it 2-0, Prospect looked home and dry until a second half revival saw St John’s reduce the arrears through Finlay Allison and left Prospect hanging on for their second win and the early leadership of Division One.

There was double success for Ryton Park as both their boys and girls teams got off to a winning start.

Maisie Willis and Jessica Hooley ensured a 2-1 victory for the girls against Redlands while McKenzie Day (4), Marshall Scott (3) and Macauley Peacock shared the goals in an 8-1 rout of Ordsall.

The smallest schools in Bassetlaw have their own teams competing in one of the league’s eight divisions as the villages swung into this season’s action.

Harvey Choppin, Leo Wood and Harry Longworth shared the goals as Everton defeated East Markham 4-0.

Misterton went 4-2 down to Thrumpton in spite of goals from Max Horton and Reece Clarke, while two goals from Hayden Fox were not enough to prevent a 6-2 success for Blyth against St Swithun’s.
