Notts County defender Pierce Bird joins Boston United on loan

The central defender has been drafted in after injuries to Lewis Gibbens, Simon Ainge and Alex Penny in recent weeks.

The 20-year-old is eligible to make his debut in the FA Trophy at Atherton Collieries this afternoon (KO 3pm).

He has also been granted permission to feature in the FA Cup.

“With the unfortunate injuries of late, we needed a committed left-sided central defender who can give us good balance,” said manager Craig Elliott.

“Not only is Pierce a good defender but he has very good distribution which is important to how we want to play.

“He comes highly recommended and I appreciate the help in getting the deal done from Neil Cox at Notts County.”
