After back-to-back defeats to Leyton Orient and Sheffield United, County will look to return to winning ways in front of the Sky cameras (2.30pm).

However, Moniz is under no illusions as to the size of the task against top-of-the-table Argyle.

He said: “There has been a lot of work to do because this is a big game against a good team.

“But we are at home and we must trust out strength there.

“The fans will be expecting and hoping for a performance because we have built ourselves up.

“We have won the last four games at Meadow Lane and we’ve played some good football, like against York for example.

“That’s what we must continue.

“But do so for 90 minutes and cut out the defensive inconsistency and the mistakes.”

Meanwhile, Moniz admits he is looking at trimming his oversized squad.

“I took a call asking about a player,” he added.

“I cannot say who it is, but I should know more in the next day or so.

“But it’s clear we need to trim down the squad because there are some players who won’t play.

“Some of them have decided against moving, but this is not going to help their own careers.”
