Olympic torchbearers bursting with pride

DESERVING individuals from Bassetlaw are gearing up to proudly parade the Olympic Torch.

Help For Heroes regional coordinator Tony Eaton will be one of the many carrying the flame through the streets of Conisbrough tomorrow morning.

On the eve of his relay leg, Tony said it still hadn’t sunk in.

“I never dreamed I would be carrying the Olympic torch one day. It will be a very proud moment for me and my family and I hope it will inspire Nottinghamshire’s young cadets,” he added.

Young swimmer Zena Robinson, 15, from Worksop, and James Needham, 28, from Bircotes, will also be carrying the flame through Rotherham and Doncaster respectively.

The torch will be coming to Bassetlaw on Thursday - starting in East Markham just after 9am.
