On the road again! Boston United look to put home discomforts behind them at Worcester

The Pilgrims were left rueing wasted chances once again as they were humbled 1-0 at home by struggling Altrincham on Saturday, just the Robins’ third win of the National League North campaign.

Since Murray’s arrival in December, the club have performed far better away from York Street, picking up two wins, two draws and a solitary defeat at Tamworth.

Compared to two wins, a draw and five defeats at the Jakemans Stadium, it’s fair to say that away days have been more fruitful for United, who are still to win a home match on a Saturday this campaign.

And now, as Boston prepare for Saturday’s visit to Worcester City and Tuesday’s trip to Alfreton Town, Murray is looking for another positive result.

“You look at the away results since I’ve come in, I think we’ve only lost one and been to some very tough places,” Murray said.

“There’s a lot of reasons for that in my eyes.

“We are a very young group, I think the average age is only 22.

“At home there’s a little bit more pressure on them to succeed - because we are a well-supported club with demands and expectations.”

However, Murray is not asking the club’s supporters to lower their expectations, instead demanding his players raise their games.

He added: “That’s up to the young players to learn and deal with.

“When they come away from home I think there’s a little more freedom.

“When things don’t quite go their way they bounce back a little bit quicker.

“That comes with time and experience.”

Boston recently signed City striker Colby Bishop, while attacker Pa Sulay Njie, who made one appearance for the Pilgrims, joined the Blues last week.

Worcester City currently sit 19th in the National League North and play their home games at Bromsgrove’s Victoria Ground. Kick off will be at 3pm.

Alfreton are 17th and kick off at North Street will be at 7.45pm.
