“I couldn’t believe it when we found out, we’re all looking forward to it,” said Ryan.

The quintet play together in Horncastle’s Monday night Leisure Leagues six-a-side competition and decided to enter the FA People’s Cup competition, finishing third overall in their round at Nottingham.

Teams involved were invited to enter a draw to face Savage’s team, which is believed to include the likes of former England striker Alan Shearer.

And they were one of 36 teams selected from more than 40,000 entries.

They five pals will now face Savage’s squad at the BBC headquarters in Salford on March 23.

All the matches will be screened throughout the day on the red button, with action also being shown in the main BBC show.

The team are now looking to fundraise for Sport Relief - which brings together sport and entertainment to raise money to help vulnerable people in both the UK and the world’s poorest countries - as a thank you.

They will be running collections for the cause, which will include a donation bucket at Harpars Bar.
