Patient Horncastle Town finally hope to return
It’ll be a case of ‘try again’ for Horncastle Town this weekend as they make another attempt to play their County Cup tie with Whaplode Drove Rovers.
The game was originally due to be played last weekend but the freezing weather which hit fixtures all over the country also caused the game at The Wong to be postponed.

As a result, this weekend’s league game with Barton Town Reserves has been postponed and the Rovers cup tie arranged in its place.
And Horncastle boss John Rawdon says his players will be ready for what again is due to be a 1.30pm kick-off.
He said: “It was really frustrating not to get the game on. Because they’d made us have an early kick-off, that was what really cost us. We had to have the pitch inspection no later than 10.30 due to Whaplode travelling, at which point it was still frozen and unplayable, but by 12.30 to 12.45ish the pitch was absolutely perfect.
"So hopefully the weather will now have cleared up so we can play it this Saturday, and we’ll be raring to go given we’ll have had six weeks without a competitive game.
"It’s far from ideal but it’s the way it is. It’ll be the same for most clubs at our level if they’re not playing on 3G, so we’ve got to get on with it, train hard on Tuesday night and be ready for Saturday’s game.
"As I’ve said before, it’s a must-win game for us because we really want to get the season going again and progressing in the County Cup is definitely a way to do that.
"If we win on Saturday then we’ll play Immingham at home in the quarter-final so hopefully it’ll be back-to-back games in the County Cup. If not then I hope the league will put us a game in on January 24 otherwise it’ll be another free weekend and one game in eight weeks, which just isn’t good enough. It would be like having a pre-season again.
"The lads have kept themselves ticking over, we’ve trained throughout, and some of the injuries we’ve had are a bit closer to coming back as well as us being able to to a bit of work with the new signings we’ve made.”
