Pilgrims are right behind boss Greene, says Boston United defender Nat Brown

Last Saturday the Pilgrims boss threatened to quit the Jakemans Stadium following the 4-1 defeat to FC Halifax Town.

But Brown - who made his first appearance of the season in the 2-2 draw with Nuneaton after shrugging off a thigh injury - says the players were happy to see the manager make the U-turn following talks with chairman David Newton.

“It was disappointing, everyone was upset with the loss,” said Brown, who signed for Greene in the summer after ending last season on loan at Boston from Lincoln City.

“But he’s got his own mind and is allowed to make his own decisions.

“He had a good talk with the lads and (against Nuneaton) we put our hearts in it for him.

“We’re behind him, most definitely.”

Brown also praised club sports therapist Katie Cooper for helping him overcome his long-term inujury.

After suffering similar strains in the past, the central defender admitted he was shocked with the amount of time he was sidelined.

“I never thought it would be this long,” he said.

“I’ve had a thigh strain before. It’s not been this long, even when I had a tear.

“She has done well to get me back.”

Reflecting on his return to the first team, Brown added: “It’s great. It’s getting back in and slowly getting better, hopefully.

“It were great to be there again.

“Match fitness is next, I’ve got to get back fit.

“But I don’t want to rush into it.

“I’m going to do my fitness work well and hopefully get back and do something with this team.”

United travel to face AFC Telford United on Saturday (KO 3pm).
