Play-off race goes to the wire

GAINSBOROUGH Trinity’s play-off hopes will, as boss Steve Housham predicted, go right down to the wire – after they were held 2-2 on the Northolme by Worcester City on Saturday.

The Blues are currently fourth, in a play-off spot, with one game left to play.

They dropped vital points on Saturday, despite going ahead twice at home to Worcester.

Leon Mettam opened the scoring on 38 minutes, but City hit back through Greg Mills four minutes later.

Luke Waterfall made it 2-1 and Trinity held this lead until just seven minutes before full-time, when Tom Thorley grabbed an equaliser for Worcester.
