Simon Ashton struck late to secure a 4-3 victory in a ding-dong United Counties League Premier Division battle on Saturday.

Richard Ford’s overhead kick and goals from Curtis Revell and Ashton saw the Poachers coasting.

However, a spirited fightback saw the hosts drew level at 3-3, only for Ashton to crop up at the death with his second of the day.

“I’ll be honest, I didn’t see the winner properly because I was sulking a bit,” manager Frost told The Standard.

“We were comfortable at 3-0 then things went wrong.

“I know this team are capable of creating chances and scoring goals, so you never give up hope.

“But I have to admit that after seeing what happened I was feeling gutted.

“I sat down to get my head round it and Lori (Borbely -assistant manager) was standing in front of me so I didn’t get a clear view.

“Then it went in and we were all buzzing.”

The result sees the Poachers move 10 points clear of the drop zone.

They now travel to Huntingdon Town on Saturday (KO 3pm).
