Rain again hit the Gainsborough and District Sunday Football League with three of the scheduled eight fixtures for Easter Sunday postponed.

With just six weeks of the season remaining, it is looking likely that some teams will have to play midweek evening games to complete the season.

Only one game was played in Division One as Rose & Crown kept up their pursuit of leaders Friendship with a hard-earned 3-1 victory at Kings Arms Haxey.

Rose & Crown are level on points with Friendship FC, but have played a game more.

Westwoodside improved their position at the head of Division Two with a 4-1 victory over Leverton United, after both teams agreed to switch the game from Leverton’s home ground of Rampton, which was unplayable, to Westwoodside.

Westwoodside have a seven-point lead at the top of the division and it appears that only Peacock, whose game was called off, and BFC Clumber have a realistic chance of catching them.

Clumber had to settle for a point at Black Horse after a goalless match.

In Division Three, where three teams are challenging for the title, Ship Inn Morton took advantage of Kings Arms Haxey Reserves and Horse & Jockey not playing to go back to the top.

Ship always had too much firepower for Stanwood Engineering and won 7-0.

Ship have a three-point lead over Kings Arms Haxey and an eight-point lead over Horse & Jockey.

Kings have a game in hand on the leaders and Horse & Jockey four.
