Relegation fight goes into last game of season

Nathan Jarman’s 30th-minute strike — his second successive home goal — was enough to earn a precious point at the Northolme as visitors Kidderminster Harriers’ title hopes were ended by title-rivals AFC Fyld’s 3-0 success at Boston United.

Harriers levelled five minutes into the second half, but the home side frustrated the visitors as they held on to stretch their unbeaten run to three matches, finding form at just the right time of the season.

Now they can preserve their National League North status by matching relegation rivals Worcester City’s result on Saturday.

City, who conceded a late winner to lose 2-1 to Salford, travel to champions AFC Fyld while Trinity are away at FC United of Manchester.

Trinity boss Dave Frecklington admitted: “It was a massive point. We knew it would be our toughest test as Kidderminster are a very, very good footballing team.

“But our boys were very good and apart from one lapse in concentration Kidderminster did not work our keeper (Tom Nicholson) — he did not have one save to make — which is testament to what was in front of him.

“It was a big point for us because Worcester lost. We have got our head above water and now we have a massive game at FC United.

“The boys have given us everything over the last three weeks.

“A lot of people have written us off, but we are still in their fighting.”

Trinity go into the final game one point and one place out of the drop zone, but have a far goal difference than Worcester.
