The Blues had established a 3-1 lead going into the final six minutes of the match on the Northolme, thanks to goals from Nathan Jarman, Marc Newsham and Craig Reid.

But two goals from the visitors’ substitute Luke Hopper salvaged a draw for Gloucester, as what looked like three points materialised as just one for the home side.

But speaking after the game manager Dom Roma was trying to take the positives from the game, rather than focusing on the points dropped.

It was the second time in as many games Trinity had let a lead slip in the final minutes of the match, after Alfreton’s visit to the Martin & Co Arena on Bank Holiday Monday.

He said: “I think Monday was different circumstances with the penalty being harsh but today we were three one up. We talk about game management at half time and towards the end of the second half we got a little bit panicky, didn’t keep the ball in their defensive third and try and run the clock down.

“It’s two points dropped but on the flip side we have scored three good goals.

“So its getting that balance of looking solid, which we have done, to create going forward. It is something we can work on in training through the week but at least we haven’t lost.

“We created three good goals. We are trying to be a bit more expansive going forward and the goals we created were good goals and finishes.

“When I was given the role, I said I was going to be learning all the time and I will take things from today to work on in the week.

“I’m not too downhearted because we have scored three good goals, we have conceded three poor ones though and that’s the nature of it.”
