Search for gaffer for U16s

THE outgoing Kiveton Park Under 16s manager is appealing for someone to take on his role.

Simon Brodie has been involved with the side since they played Under 10s football, but work commitments have made it impossible for him to carry on as boss.

And he’s desperate for a new coach to come forward to take the boys on to Under 18 level.

He told the Guardian: “I’m disappointed to have to leave, I haven’t taken the decision lightly and I’m hoping for someone to come in.”

“They’re a good team and I have the basis of a squad for next season, and I’m willing to help out with training.”

The Under 16s finished in midtable last season, winning 10 and losing 10 of their fixtures.

Brodie added: “They did well, considering that towards the end of the season we struggled for numbers and played a few matches with 10 and even eight players.”

“Some of the lads have been with the club since they were eight and it was really hard for me to tell them I couldn’t do it anymore. Whoever comes in, the club will pay for them to do their FA coaching badge and sort out a CRB check.”
