Shaw thing, Jamie

Jamie Shaw has confessed he would love to remain in the Sleaford Town dug-out when football resumes.

It has been a difficult campaign for the Greens boss, whose side propped up the United Counties League Premier Division for much of the season, gaining their first point of the campaign against derby rivals Boston Town in December.

But Town had turned the corner and in the new year and leapfrogged Pinchbeck United before the season was brought to an early close.

However, the campaign - which also saw the manager take his turn between the sticks as a last-minute replacement keeper - has not dampened Shaw’s spirit and desire to succeed at Eslaforde Park.

“As long as the club will have me involved in some capacity then I want to be involved,” he said.

“I would love to stay involved and, hopefully, as manager.”

Indeed, Shaw told The Standard that he could struggle to think of life away from the ground.

“To be honest, even if I was told they didn’t want me I’d probably still go down and watch as a spectator,” he continued.

“That is what i enjoy doing, it’s been a big part of my life, my family’s lives.

“It’s something that’s important to us, and they come down to watch.

“Not having me involved with Sleaford on a Saturday and being at home seems weird for them.
