Sir Edmund mixed week

It was a week of mixed fortunes for Sir Edmund Hillary, as they suffered a blow to their title hopes but booked a place int he Parry Cup final.

They lost two league matches in a week to virtually end their championship hopes.

A 3-2 defeat at St John’s and a 2-1 loss at Prospect Hill has more than likely taken them out of the league race.

They bounced back with a stunning 6-3 Parry Cup victory over the holders, Carr Hill.

Alex Wonham’s hat-trick for Carr Hill was not enough to match four from fellow Bassetlaw striker Cameron Harper and two from Travis Matthews.

Ranskill claimed the Division Five title when they overcame nearest rivals Blyth ina 4-3 thriller with their goals coming from Elliott Crowe (3) and Kai Wyld, following a 3-0 success against St Swithun’s when Kai Wyld was again on target this time helped by Lewis Clayton.

Small Schools cup finalists, Sturton-le-Steeple earned the first half of a cup and league double, overcaming Sutton-cum-Lound 3-2 to clinch the Division Eight title.
