Six of the best should secure a play-off place, says Boston United boss Dennis Greene

And Greene believes that six of the best from the final 10 matches will be enough to secure a play-off spot.

“We’re two games unbeaten so hopefully we can be unbeaten in the final 10 matches,” he said.

“But if we can win six and lose four I’d take that.

“I think 69-70 points will get you in this year.”

There was a strange feeling of mixed emotions around the Jakemans Stadium following Saturday’s stalemate with the Blues.

Although Boston felt that two points had been dropped from a winnable contest - despite a huge let-off in stoppage time when former West Brom striker Lee Hughes fluffed a golden chance - a point was enough for the side to move up to third due to Nuneaton being the only top six side to claim victory.

Jay Rollins picked up where he left off at Bradford Park Avenue in midweek, handing the Pilgrims a 36th-minute lead in a move which turned routine defence into clinical attack.

Scott Garner’s headed clearance was helped on by Grant Roberts, leaving Rollins to outpace Connor Gater and poke his effort beyond Nathan Vaughan.

But a huge slice of luck drew City level with the final attack of the first half.

As Garner and Roberts left a routine clearance for one another to deal with, Amadou Bakayoko’s effort didn’t appear to trouble Fabian Spiess in the United goal, until the ball deflected off Jordan Murphy and screwed beyond the wrong-footed keeper.
