Skegness boss is pleased to end on a high
Skegness Town joint-boss Chris Rawlinson saw his side wrap up an 11th-place finish in the UCL Premier North standings last weekend and reflected on another season of progress at the club.
The win saw them emulate last season’s points tally as, alongside Gary King, Rawlinson also oversaw only four home defeats.

And whilst speaking about last weekend’s 1-0 win over Kimberley Miners Welfare that rounded off the campaign, he reflected on the season’s work.
He said: “Saturday had very much an end of season feel to it and it was very windy too. Kimberley weren’t as strong as they could be as I think some of their first team lads were away, which is a measure of how late in the season the game ended up being played.
"Gary played himself and scored a great goal and showed he can still do it at his age, and we had numerous chances to put the game to bed in the first-half with the wind in our favour but didn’t really take them.
"It was the same in the second-half and it then got a bit nervy for the last 10-15 minutes but we saw it out quite well.
"As for the season as a whole, we finished on two more points than last year but a place lower, so we’ve probably been treading water for another which isn’t really what we as a management team wanted, or as a club, as a lot of hard work goes on behind the scenes and a lot of thanks have to out to the committee, the volunteers and the fans.
"So whilst it’s not a backward step to be level-pegging, I feel it’s something we could have done better.
"We were in the Lincolnshire League less than ten years ago and are not steady in mid-table at step five so we’ve come a long way, but at times this season could have promised so much more.
"Our home form has been good and we only lost four games on our own patch, which is up there with the teams in the top half of the table. Our away form has been the biggest problem.
"But all in all it’s not been a bad season – not the one we would have wanted but equally there are nine teams below us that would have wanted to have the season we’ve had, so we thank everyone for the support and prepare to go again.”
