Striker Ant Wilson to '˜hang up' his boots after injury woe ends his short Gainsborough Trinity stay

Ant Wilson's stay with Gainsborough Trinity has been cut short due to injury, with the striker tweeting that he's to hang up his boots.

The 28-year-old suffered a hamstring injury in Saturday’s defeat by AFC Fylde, and despite only joining midway through November he left the club today.

A Trinity statement said: “Following discussions with the manager, Ant Wilson has left Gainsborough Trinity. We wish him a speedy recovery and all the best for the future.”

Wilson has had injury troubles previously, having needed knee surgery while at Alfreton, breaking his ankle at Belper and leaving Barrow by mutual consent in November after an injury-hit spell.

He tweeted: “Stupid body is not cooperating with me anymore so im hanging the boots up as of today.”

Wilson scored just one goal for Trinity, in a 2-1 win over Chorley.
